Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Confirmation is the rite in which we are strengthened for service to the Church and to others and sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God’s fidelity to us. It is received only once in one's lifetime; it is not a repeatable moment.
Confirmation is celebrated yearly following the guidance of the diocese, which is the age of 8th grade. Classroom instruction is required with periodic meetings between parents, students and sponsors. Those being confirmed begin in regular Sunday school classes before entering the preparation during the year of Confirmation. The confirmands participate in a retreat and perform various service requirements. Contact: Mrs. Rodriguez.
Frequently adults who did not celebrate this sacrament inquire about receiving it. Contact Ginny Blass or Barbara Maliszewski who can help with the preparations and celebration.
